Art Source 2019
I was delighted to be welcomed back to Art Source this year by Ballyfermot College of Further Education. Myself and three more graduates represented each course we graduated from - mine being Graphic Design. I studied Graphic Design at BCFE for two years, and it’s a course that led me to find my dream path of illustration. I am always delighted to highly recommend this course, it made the daunting transition from a traditional artist to a digital artist incredibly easy (through lots hard work of course!), because of the dedication and professional working skills that the teaching staff possess.
I based my stand on a similar layout to what I used last year - working in a slightly smaller space. I used shelves, frames and furniture from my own studio to create a little ‘pop-up’ shop that was warm, colourful and inviting. It was so lovely to receive such wonderful feedback about both my stand and my illustrations from customers and passers-by. A lot of people also remembered me from the previous year, and gratefully called back this year.
My amazing Dad put up each and every shelf and picture frame - I would have been totally lost without him!
My sister Gillian was also a fantastic help, and a great saleswoman! She helped me arrange all the prints and cards to be at their most eye-catching.
My brand new print rack came in handy for my larger A3 prints to be displayed.
This is my brand new sign, which I gold-foiled before the show, and which is why my studio is now littered with tiny shards of shiny gold - fake gold I should say, no karats whatsoever. I’ll be hanging it in my studio, to remember how clumsy I am at gold foiling!
